Energy systems in a tire manufacturing plant

The Students: Amit Zinuak and Rami Ya’acobov.
The Mentor: Dr. Sharon Gat

Energy expenditure constitutes a significant slice of manufacturing costs of many industries, including the tire manufacturing industry. With the rise in the price of energy and in the wake of an energy review carried out by the Alliance tire factory, a comprehensive energy streamlining plan was formulated, that includes the cooling tower system and exploiting residual heat of exhaust gases from the steam boiler. A techno-economic investigation of these systems will be carried out as part of the project, taking note of the fluctuations in steam generation and the environmental conditions.
