Purpose/Essence of the Project

Under pressure and complex field conditions, combat soldiers’ shooting accuracy suffers significantly due to fatigue, movement, mental stress, and short response times. Since successful shooting depends on concentration, stability, and skill, even experienced soldiers can miss the target. To address this problem, we’ve developed a system for improving hit accuracy and stabilizing shooting abilities during operational activity.

Describe the Product/Project

The system serves as a smart sighting device installed on the weapon, helping the soldier to identify targets in real time. It combines a camera, a built-in computer, and a laser pointer for identifying objects in the field, calculating distance to target, and instantly presenting the information on a designated screen. By processing data in real time, the system helps to improve hit accuracy, reduce the rate of misidentifications, and cope more successfully with field conditions and pressure during operational activities.

How Was the Idea Born?

The idea for this system was born from the three team members’ personal experience in reserve service during the Swords of Iron War. During operational activity, we often encountered situations that required rapid target identification and decision-making under pressure, sometimes in challenging visibility and environmental conditions. Due to our direct experience with difficulties on the ground, we identified the need for a technological solution that would provide fighters with real-time information and help them with identification and aiming, while reducing operational strain and improving spatial awareness.

Why Did You Choose This Project?

We chose this project based on the understanding that prolonged combat and complex field conditions pose significant challenges to soldiers on the battlefield. Our goal was to develop technology that could provide a practical solution, improve targeting ability, and provide relief for soldiers during operational activity.

Is the Project Connected with a Personal Story of Yours or of Someone You Know?

This project stems from a deep understanding of the challenges facing soldiers on the battlefield. During Swords of Iron, we served over 1,000 days of reserve duty in multiple fighting roles. We saw intensive battle, coped with complex operational pressure situations, and witnessed up-close friends being wounded in battle.

These experiences underscored for us the need for technological solutions that would help fighters in real time, improve operational awareness, shorten response times, and support decision-making in conditions of uncertainty. The project is aimed at developing a system that will help with more accurate target identification and aiming, in order to improve operational effectiveness and give the fighter a significant advantage in the field. For us, it is an attempt to transform the lessons we’ve experienced personally into a tool that can help to better secure personnel and reduce future risk to soldiers’ lives.

What Need Does It Address and for What Population?

The system is primarily designed for infantry operating in urban warfare, where identifying targets and partially visible individuals in real time can be particularly challenging. Additionally, the system can also operate in open areas and significantly contribute to other operational scenarios.
