Purpose/Essence of the Project

Why Did You Choose This Project?

It was important for us to create a graduation project that isn’t just another app or merely AI-based, but something with real meaning that could save lives.

Technically, it’s a super-interesting project, because it doesn’t only focus on one thing. We combine working with smartwatch sensors, mobile development, working with the cloud, and feedback on a designated app for lifeguards, and also have to know about physiological indicators. This requires us to learn many new things on the move, just like a dev team in a small startup, which gives us excellent experience going into the industry.

Is the Project Connected with a Personal Story of Yours or of Someone You Know?

The real trigger for this project was a case Yarin experienced up-close, when he saw how quickly and quietly a child can drown, and the thought of how it can affect the family. Beyond his personal story, one cannot ignore the fact that every time summer comes around, we hear of tragedies on the beach or in the swimming pool. Unfortunately, this is something everyone in Israel knows about. We decided to take the frustration of “how is this still happening?!” and use our knowledge to develop something practical that can actually prevent the next catastrophe.

What Need Does It Address and for What Population?

Our product provides a safety net for anyone entering the water, from small children taking their first steps in the swimming pool, through amateur swimmers, to surfers and adult seafarers. Anyone wearing a compatible smartwatch who’s around water will have a lifesaving protective shield. Our product touches everyone.
