Dr. Moshe Tshuva, head of Afeka’s school of mechanical engineering, has launched a social-environmental project with partners from academia and industry

The climate crisis requires the entire world to adopt alternative consumption habits that are smarter and more responsible towards earth and everyone in it. The trend in coming years will be towards transition to green energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, whether in response to regulatory demands or in response to the demands of a market that seeks a more sustainable alternative.

The transition to renewable energy production is a process that requires guidance and adaptation. This project will work to assist companies in setting realistic green energy goals, and guide them through to full implementation, while providing tools, knowledges-sharing, and help in bridging barriers within the Israeli market.

In June 2023, professionals from academia and industry – including Dr. Moshe Tshuva, head of Afeka’s school of mechanical engineering; Ms. Galit Kenigsberg of Tel Aviv University’s Planet Zero climate crisis initiative; and Dave Rosenberg, energy director at Strauss Israel – have launched the Electricity 100 project, aimed at enabling the business sector to become a leading engine in the Israeli market’s transition to 100% renewable energy by the State of Israel’s 100th anniversary.

The initiative is supported by The Manufacturers Association of Israel, and the program’s professional review will be conducted by experts and graduate students of energy engineering from Afeka College. They will provide professional support to the companies committed to the initiative, helping them to set realistic green energy goals, and guide them through to full implementation while providing tools, knowledges-sharing, and help in bridging barriers within the Israeli market.

Dr. Moshe Tshuva, member of the governing council and head of the project’s technical committee: “Green energy is a business interest for any organization in the age of climate crisis. Working with my colleagues in academia and industry, and using the help of Afeka students, we will provide every organization with the guidance to implement a smart, effective transition to consuming renewable energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. As a leading institution for educating engineers, Afeka College believes in social responsibility and change, which is why our faculty and graduate students are proud to be part of a project as important and impactful as Electricity 100.”
