Supporting Every Student, Every Step of the Way

In recent years, Afeka College has faced a profound and ongoing challenge shared by Israeli society as a whole. Many of our students, particularly those serving in the reserves, have experienced loss, trauma, and significant disruption to their academic and personal lives.

Even as students return from active reserve duty, the effects are far from over. The emotional impact, the difficulty of reintegrating into daily routines, and the long-term consequences of these experiences continue to shape the reality of our students and community.

Recognizing both the scale of the need and our responsibility as an academic institution, Afeka has developed a comprehensive and evolving support framework focused on mental resilience, recovery, and long-term well-being.

  • Peer Support (Buddies)

Afeka trains students to serve as peer supporters within the academic community. These trained “Buddies” provide a first line of support—offering presence, listening, and early identification of emotional distress, while connecting peers to professional resources when needed. This model strengthens the human fabric of campus life and ensures that no student faces challenges alone.

  • Emotional & Professional Support

Afeka provides access to professional support services, including stress-management tools such as biofeedback, subsidized psychological care, and ongoing personal guidance. These services help students develop practical tools to cope, recover, and move forward.

  • Workshops & Reintegration Programs

Through workshops and group programs, Afeka supports students as they transition back from reserve duty to academic life. These programs provide a safe space to process experiences, rebuild routines, and strengthen personal resilience within a supportive peer environment.

  • Community Awareness & Culture

Afeka actively promotes awareness of “invisible wounds” through community events, lectures, and collaborations with external organizations. These initiatives help students, faculty, and staff recognize distress, respond with sensitivity, and build a more supportive campus culture.

The Quiet Tent: A Space for Renewal

As part of this ongoing commitment, Afeka is establishing a dedicated “Quiet Tent” on campus—a calm and protected space designed to support students coping with stress, trauma, and the challenges of reintegration. This initiative is made possible through the generosity of donors who recognize the importance of mental well-being and resilience in times of ongoing challenge.

The Quiet Tent will offer personal guidance, mind-body workshops, and resilience-building activities, providing students with a place to pause, process, and regain balance. It reflects Afeka’s belief that meaningful recovery requires not only academic support, but also accessible, human-centered spaces for reflection and renewal.

More than a physical space, the Quiet Tent represents a long-term investment in student well-being—ensuring that those who have carried the weight of service and uncertainty are met with care, understanding, and the support they need to move forward.
