A remarkable achievement for Afeka College of Engineering: the institution has been ranked #2 globally in the prestigious WURI 2025 rankings in the category of Visionary Leadership – placing Afeka at the forefront of global academic innovation. This category included 239 higher education institutions from around the world, among them leading universities such as Johns Hopkins, Georgetown, and Northwestern.

Afeka's high placement positions it among the world’s most influential academic institutions. The WURI ranking (World's Universities with Real Impact) is a respected global index that evaluates universities based on their real-world impact on society and industry through innovative education, applied research, and social engagement.

In 2025, the ranking included 1,253 institutions from 87 countries, competing across 16 different categories. The Visionary Leadership category recognizes institutions with long-term vision and a proven ability to drive meaningful change in higher education. Afeka earned this recognition thanks to its innovative competency-based model for engineering education – a model that has become a cornerstone of its strategic vision and educational mission across all college activities.

Afeka is known for its forward-thinking academic approach, which goes beyond imparting technological knowledge by emphasizing the development of cross-disciplinary skills and values such as critical thinking, independent learning, teamwork, effective communication, and social responsibility. These competencies are deeply embedded in all learning outcomes, with the goal of cultivating industry-ready, innovative engineers that will contribute to Israel’s social, economical and national resilience.

This is not the first time Afeka has received a high WURI ranking. In previous years, the college ranked among the world’s top five in the WURI category of Crisis Management during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, this new achievement in Visionary Leadership underscores the depth of Afeka’s innovation, educational vision, and global influence.
