The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center at Ofek and Rimon School of Music have just completed their fourth annual joint MusicTech Hackathon.

For 23 hours straight, students of engineering and of Israel’s leading Rimon School of Music joined Afeka’s Innovation & Entrepreneurship Center to prototype new music-technology solutions.worked to develop innovative musical technology projects. Guided by veteran mentors from the tech and music industries, the teams raced from idea to proof-of-concept and pitched to an industry jury.

Winning Projects:

🥇 sBodyBeat – An app that turns body drumming into melodies using motion sensors. Inspired by hostage Alon Ohel, who kept his spirits up by “playing” rhythms on his body during captivity, the project bridges creativity and resilience.

🥈 Melo-Match – Identifies a user’s singing and instantly provides a matching backing track, making casual singing more enjoyable for everyone.

🥉 Hack-a-Tone – A music-production plugin that analyzes a demo against a chosen reference track and offers step-by-step instructions to match its sound.

“It was fascinating to see the students join forces and combine practical knowledge with musical passion,” said Tair Kowalsky, head of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center. “We were especially moved by the winning project, which drew its inspiration from the hostages – and by the commercial potential demonstrated by all the projects.”
