רקע מקצועי

בעל ניסיון תעשייתי עשיר של כ-15 שנה בעולם הייטק במגוון תפקידים. במסגרת תפקידיו בתעשייה עסק פרופ' מויאל בפיתוח אלגוריתמים כראש צוות פיתוח אלגוריתמים, שימש כסמנכ"ל פיתוח טכנולוגיה וסמנכ"ל פיתוח עסקי ובתפקידו האחרון, שימש כמנכ"ל חברת NSC המפתחת מוצרי זיהוי דיבור. עוסק במחקר בתחום זיהוי דיבור אדם על ידי מכונות לצרכי תקשורת אדם מכונה בדיבור ולחיפוש בתכני מולטימדיה.

לפני כחמש שנים עבר לאקדמיה על מנת להשפיע על תהליך הכשרתם של מהנדסי החשמל בהתאם לצרכי התעשיה. יסד ועמד בראש המרכז לעיבוד שפה במכללת אפקה שהפך למרכז ידע לתעשיה בתחום עיבוד אותות דיבור, ומקיים פעילות מחקר ופיתוח ענפה מול התעשיה. כיהן כראש המחלקה להנדסת חשמל. כהן כיו"ר הועד המנהל של הקרן הבינלאומית לחינוך שעסקה במתן מלגות לסטודנטים והפעלת פרויקטים חברתיים-חינוכיים. נשיא המכללה החל מאוקטובר 2014.
