Goals of the College

Afeka College has developed a unique model of engineering training based on state-of-the-art multidisciplinary curricula that encourage hands-on independent learning, team work, creativity, initiative, a commitment to quality, and prepares its graduates for work in today’s global atmosphere.

The main goals of the college are:

To provide students with an academic atmosphere that encourages both creative thinking and analytical reasoning.
Afeka classes are structured in such a way that allows students to move quickly from observing classroom demonstrations to developing solutions using the modern laboratory facilities at their disposal. Furthermore, every student is required to submit a final project. As part of their project, students must study the needs of the industry, examine alternatives, and submit proposals. The intense work on the final project hones the skills each student developed in the course of their studies.
• To encourage students to pursue entrepreneurial inspirations, while at the same time, providing them with ample ties to the industry.
The industry is Afeka's ultimate end-customer. The college thus maintains and encourages close ties with the industry. Final projects are often funded and by industrial firms, providing students with the opportunity to find solutions to real industry needs. Afeka also offers its students the unique opportunity to participate in the Afeka Entrepreneurship program. Students involved in the program are led by a highly experienced entrepreneur who guides them through all the stages of new product development: examining feasibility; defining the target market; identifying the competition; preparing a business plan; and developing a prototype. Afeka also houses two research facilities, the Antenna Laboratory and the Afeka Center for Language Processing. Both centers manage close ties with industry via joint research activities.
• To prepare students for work in a modern, dynamic and international market.
Afeka's multi-disciplinary approach facilitates the understanding of the fundamental principles, terminology and technological discourse in all fields of engineering. When graduates become practicing engineers, this allows them to understand and negotiate complex cross-discipline technologies and products. In addition, Afeka ensures that students enter the market with a sufficient mastery of the English language. In addition to a prerequisite level of English, many of the courses available at the college are available only in English and students are required to take at least one. From their second year onward, at least one question on every exam is posed in English.
